Cheder RAMBAM School was founded in the summer of 2000. Upon hearing of the unfortunate dissolution of Ecole Maimonides, a group of devoted teachers, parents and employees of that school pulled together and formed Cheder RAMBAM School. With the help of Hashem and motivated by the commitment, that so many years of experience and excellence must not go to waste, the new institution was formed. While we are a new school, we retain the experience, commitment, and devotion accumulated painstakingly during a period of over twenty years.
Four students and a teacher marked an auspicious beginning of our predecessor, Ecole Maimonides School; a school, a summer program, adult education, many dreams and plans. Founded by Rabbis Mordechai Berger and Dovid Hayes, in 1977, the school was originally known as Gan Yelodim Preschool. It officially became known as Ecole Maimonides in 1980.
Today, Cheder RAMBAM School has inherited a beautiful 30,000 square foot facility with eighteen classrooms, a gym, a library, computer labs, specially designed preschool rooms and acres of magnificent sports fields. The interior of the building has been entirely renovated after a 1998 arson attack. Ours is truly one of the most beautiful Jewish schools in Canada.
