Two (IMHO) great quotes from the Aruch Hashulchan (CM 149:22) discussing an
individual having a chazaka in a mitzva (my rough translation)
1. All of this is discussing a chazaka that has an associated claim such as the
community granted him the mitzva in perpetuity. But if he appropriated it for
himself without the community's assent, there's nothing to his chazaka
2 Discussing the status of the chazaka of a former house minyan when a permanent
shul is built as it is known that multiple individual minyanim cause destruction
in the city.

The trumpet blowing starts just after 14 minutes, after reading a few chapters
of Tehillim in different styles.
I appreciate that the staunch Yekkes on this list are probably very against this
sort of thing. What about the rest of us? They justify it by quoting the Rambam
- but I always understood that this was reserved for the Bet haMikdash [Temple].
May we speedily have quiet and peace and a complete redemption with the building
of the Bet haMikdash.

Well, Google has no quality control. The Rambam is the Rambam.
That's an obvious huge difference.
But yes, the whole thing about codes is that you are promulgating a pesaq
without knowing the detail of a sho'el's situation. Only zil q'ri bei rav
(open-and-shut) questions should be decided by reading a book.
My rule of thumb -- if there isn't agreement among all four of the
Chayei Adam, the Qitzur, the AhS and the MB, the question is for a
rav. (Sepharadi milegage will vary.)

The number of books coming out lately may imply the demand to be authors.
Something I learned about the sefer market. There is no way to make money.
The market is too small. This is why the Schottensteins donated all that
money and yet a volume of the shas that sports their name is still so
much more expensive than an unenhanced full mesechta.
Think college textbook prices. The only way to avoid that is donations.
So, every sefer is supported by donors. Except for titles published by
ArtScroll (under the name ArtScroll, not Mesorah's other lines), Koren
(parallel disclaimer), and some of Feldheim's titles, the publisher will
be getting those donors him - or herself.
Notice this means the line between "real" publishing and vanity press
is very thin.
(I figure that as someone who has published, I can say this without
coming across as belittling authors. But then I thought, only if the
reader knows I am speaking of my own book as well. Thus, this parenthetic
comment. That said, more people should know and live by R Shimon Shkop's
hashkafah. So, if you want to buy a copy of Widen Your Tent...)

The SA (OC 55:6) discusses what to do if you have a minyan of exactly ten and
nine of them are waiting for the tenth to finish his amida so as to start
chazarat hashatz. While it's encouraged to wait, in a case of need the shatz may
begin his chazara. I didn't notice anyone saying that the singleton should
consider speeding up so as not to hold the minyan back.
Any thoughts?

Any sources on why the practice is to do it specifically after mincha (on the
first day of rosh hashana)? Why is it preferred to do it outside the city? How
common is it to actually cast food into the water?.

congregation for Selichot.
Could there be a fourth one?
That Selichot could be said, at least the piyutim, while the Kaddish and other
elements that (may) require a minyan be simply skipped?
